1. Describe the stasis in the play: where, when, who, what, etc. in a paragraph.

Although this play is not told in chronological order, it starts off in the summer of 1969 Maryland during Lil Bits teenage years. She is out with her uncle peck learning how to drive, but while parked Uncle Peck's motives are revealed.

2. What is the intrusion?

The intrusion is when Peck's sexual abuse toward Lil Bit over the years is revealed to the audience. This is a major upset for the audience because not only is Peck her uncle, but Lil Bit is also a minor when the abuse started.

3. What is the unique factor?

this is the day that Lil Bit decided to look into her and Pecks abusive past

4. What is the dramatic question that should be answered by the end of the play?

Will the sexual abuse from Peck stop?
Will Peck be caught for the sexual abuse toward his niece?
Will Lil Bit be able to recover from the abuse?

5. Provide an illustration of the two kinds of exposition that the play has in it.

The first kind of exposition would be that the family knows that something is going on between Peck and Lil Bit, but they dont know exactly whats going on. The second kind of exposition is when Peck being Lil Bit's uncle is kept secret and then soon revealed.

6. Identify the most theatrical moment in the play and of what importance it seems to be.

The most theatrical moment of the play would probably have to be the hotel scene. This is because of the way Lil Bit tells Peck that they are done. This is the first time that she has ever stood up to Peck and so it holds a large significance.

7. List some of the themes of the play.

Sexual Abuse
Pedophilia
Alcoholism
Incest

8. Choose the character of Li'l Bit in the show and articulate what she wants and what are some obstacles that stand in the way of her getting what she wants?

All Lil Bit ever wanted was to have a father, go to college, and learn how to drive. The person who knows her desires and takes advantage of this is her uncle Peck. With Peck taking the place of the father figure and driving instructor, Lil Bit must overcome the brainwashing and sexual abuse of Peck if she ever wants to move forward in life.

9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.

The car can be seen as a type of prison where Lil Bit cannot escape from Peck desires and abuse. Although Lil Bit has reached this major milestone in life of learning how to drive, the title really singles out the fact that the way she learned to drive much different than how most of us learned. While most of us were being told how to make proper turns and when to use signals, Lil Bit was being fondled by her uncle and brainwashed into thinking it was normal.

10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.

Lil Bit's family is a very different family relationship than what we have already read this semester. The main family relationship within the play is between Lil Bit and her uncle Peck. This is a very toxic relationship because of Peck's pedophilic actions and sexual abuse of his niece. Instead of her other family members coming in to help, they really do not care about her. They make fun of her for not only her looks but her life goal of going to college. Overall this family is one that I think many would not like to be apart of.
